Scholarship Fund

Giving back to his home community, Unioto High School, Ohio State and NFL player Ben and Amy Harsock provide several scholarships annually to local students.
Guidelines for
Application
-
Nominees must be a graduating senior of Chillicothe, Ohio High School or a Scioto Valley (Ohio) Conference School.
- Nominees must fill out an application complete with a picture.
- Nominee must provide a one page autobiography (250 words or more) describing themselves, interests, hobbies, and goals.
- Nominee must provide an information sheet that should include activities in which the nominee has engaged in during high school years (class officer, music organizations, athletics, publications, etc.) and organized out-of-school activities (4-H Club, scouting, church organizations, etc.). Information sheet should also include any awards or honors received.
- Nominee must include two letters of recommendations from teachers, coaches, advisors or other community leaders.
- Nominee shall provide a High School transcripts from High School.
- Nominees will be evaluated on:
- Academic Excellence
- Athletic Excellence
- 4-H Excellence
- Community Service
- Scholarship funds may be used at any accredited college or trade school.
- Scholarship funds may be used for books, tuition or room and board. Checks will be written directly to the college or trade school or approved entity. Any unused portion will be returned to the Fund.

Young Professionals Network
Scholarship Fund
To encourage continuing education and support those efforts, all graduates of High School’s in Ross County, Ohio are eligible to apply for this scholarship. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded, as funds are available, by the Young Professionals Network.
Guidelines for Application
- Application must be filled out in its entirety. Incomplete applications will not be considered for scholarship. Please complete application in blue or black ink.
- Applicants must have a 3.0 grade point average.
- Applicants may apply that will graduate from a Ross County, Ohio High School.
- Applicants must provide proof of acceptance by the college, trade, training or technical school of his/her choice.
- Applicants must be accompanied with official high school transcripts and ACT, or equivalent, scores.
- Scholarship funds are to be used for general expenses: Tuition, room/board, books, equipment, etc.
- Scholarship payment will be made only to the designated educational institution.
- Should a student withdraw before completing his/her first year the remaining funds, in accordance with the policy of the institution, shall be returned to the fund.

Mary Margaret Black
Scholarship Fund
As a lasting memory to Mary
Margaret Black a Ross County, Ohio resident concerned about
education, an annual scholarship provides funds for college
students. As funds are available, a scholarship up to $2500 is
available annually.

Roy A. Congrove Memorial
Fund

Honoring the memory of Mr. Roy A. Congrove, a basketball coach and mentor to Zane Trace
High School students, annually scholarships are awarded to Zane Trace
graduates.

2005 winners are:
Matthew Brooks - A sports
standout at Zane Trace, Matthew will attend Ohio University in Athens, OH
majoring in engineering.
Bradley Congrove - Looking
to pursue a degree in the medical profession, Brad will attend The Ohio
State University.
Christopher Davis - Chris
will major in criminal justice at Muskingum College while playing football
and/or baseball.
Paige Halley - A 4-year
letterman in 3 sports with all SVC and district honors, Paige will attend
West Virginia University working toward a degree in pharmacy.
Jared Timmons - Graduation
7th in his class, Jared will attend Ohio University-Chillicothe before
transferring to Ohio State University to complete a degree in pharmacy.
Justine Zilli - Wright
State University in Dayton is where Justine will attend to complete a degree
in business/marketing to pursue a career in the fashion industry.

Clayton Knisley
The daughters of Roger and Emily Benner, Norene Mapes, Julia
Perry and Alma Jane Penwell congratulate the first scholarship
winner Clayton Knisley and the Ross County Fair.
Chillicothe Bicentennial Scholars
Fund
The Chillicothe Bicentennial Scholars Fund was established by the
Chillicothe Bicentennial Commission to leave a lasting legacy of its
successful and memorable celebration of Chillicothe's remarkable
history of two hundred years. Annually two (2) $1,000 college
scholarships are awarded to qualified students graduating seniors from
Chillicothe High School.

2005 Winners
Eric Proehl - Eric graduated 6th out of 275 in the class of 2005
with a 4.278 GPA. He will attend The Ohio State University College
of Engineering.
Sarah Charney - Sarah graduated 58th with a GPA of 3.582. She will
attend The College of Charleston in Charleston, SC working toward a
degree in Business and Marketing.
2004 Graduates
Leslie Burdett -
Leslie graduated first in her class of 267 with a 4.326 GPA. She
will attend Ohio Northern University working toward a Doctor of
Pharmacy degree.
Daniela Arreola Segrove -
Daniela graduated 25 in her class with a 3.80 GPA. She will attend
Barnard College in New York City working toward a law degree in
International Law.

Jenna Purdum – Jenna graduated 16th in her class with a 4.044
GPA. She attends Ohio University majoring in Pre-Law.
Evan Terry – Evan tied for second in his class with a 4.356
GPA. He attends Elon University in Elon, NC majoring in
Communications.

Nathaniel Jane-wit
- He graduated first in his class with a 4.408 GPA. He attends
Stanford University in Stanford, California and majoring in business.
Laura Corcoran - graduated 8th with a 4.168 GPA and will
attend the Ohio State University working toward a master’s degree in
Occupational Therapy or International Studies.
2001 Graduates
Whitney Martinko - She graduated first in her class with a
4.348 GPA. She attends Harvard College in Cambridge, MA and majoring
in history.
Steven Patrick - graduated 5th with a 4.091 GPA and The Ohio
State University to receive a Ph.D. in Anthropology and a degree in
Fine Arts.
Jennifer White - She graduated 38th with a 3.479 GPA. Ohio
University is where White will attend, majoring in psychology.
